I always try to be frugal, and, if possible, a little greener as well. These are some of the steps I personally take to save money, and it has certainly helped me pay for my college interest loans. I hope they help. Feedback is always welcome. Get a cheaper phone plan. It surprises me that some people pay $60/month for their cellphone! Use instant messaging, blogs, facebook, emails, skype, twitter, and other free alternatives to stay in touch with your friends. Buy things in bulk. You usually save money in the long run by buying things in bulk. Instead of buying a small cereal box, buy a big box. 3. Buy cheaper alternatives. Margarine instead of real butter, ground beef instead of steak, rougher toilet paper instead of nice, soft, fluffy toilet paper (FYI, buying the rougher toilet paper helps save the environment, since soft toilet paper requires killing old trees instead of using recyclable material. Also soft toilet paper is an unhealthy addiction for many Americans.) Use washcloths
