How Do You Line A Metal Window Box?
Window boxes allow you to add color and and individuality to your home, whether you live in an urban apartment or a spacious suburban house. When selecting plants for window boxes, consider how much sunlight the plants will receive, what their temperature tolerance is, how tall they can grow and their water needs. Many flowers and herbs found in ornamental gardens will thrive in window boxes as long as they have good water flow. By lining metal window boxes before adding potting soil and flowers, plants stay healthy and the window boxes remain in good condition. Measure the interior depth of each of the wider sides and the bottom of the window box. Cut one piece of plastic sheeting that is long enough to to cover both sides and the bottom of the box. Cut an additional piece of plastic that has the same dimensions as the first if the first piece is not wide enough to fully cover the window box length.
