It could be that the gel has dried out. Try lighting it before you put it under the fondue pot to make sure it lights. If it doesn’t, it has probably dried out or has been used up. There is a product called Fondue Fuel that you squirt into a burner. (You could use that if the canned gel is used up or has dried out).
