How Do You Light An Oven Pilot Light?
Having your oven pilot light go out is an annoying occurrence, but can happen during an interruption in gas service or a power outage. Lighting the pilot is not a difficult project but it can be confusing, as not all gas ovens are the same. Most modern gas oven models utilize an electronic ignition and a glow bar that does not require relighting with a match. Older electronic ignition and standing pilot ovens can be lit easily, and knowing how to light them can help you save money on a repair. Turn the oven control knob to the “Off” position. Allow any smell of gas to dissipate before attempting to light the pilot. Consult your stove’s user manual to identify the location of the pilot light, or look for an access panel on the interior of the oven compartment on the floor, and on the exterior for a panel beneath the oven door.
