How Do You Light A Paper Lantern?
I must be retro-impaired. I could not find a lighting fixture for my paper lantern in any of the stores I checked. Yeah, yeah, I could go on line, but I didn’t want to wait for delivery. So, necessity being the mother of invention, here’s how to illuminate your paper lantern with Christmas tree lights. Gather the string of lights by gently folding the wire back and forth so there is a light bulb at each end of your “fan fold.” If your lights are fresh out of the box, they may already be crimped this way. Stretch the wire out, though, and then re-fold. (See the photo.) Using a long twist tie (or two shorter twist ties twisted together), wrap the bundle of lights in the middle. Twist to secure tightly. Spread the lights apart. It’s sort of an electrical equivalent to fluffing a yarn pompom. Drop the light bundle into the paper lantern through the hole in the top, holding onto the lights’ cord.
