How Do You Light A Gas Fireplace Pilot Light?

0

A gas fireplace is a welcoming sight after a long day in the winter cold, but you must carefully maintain it. After the winter season is over or if you will be away for an extended period of time, you should turn out your pilot light. When it is time to reuse your fireplace, you will then have to relight the pilot light. Locate the gas pilot valve at the back or side of your fireplace. Press the knob in all the way and turn counter-clockwise until it is fully in the “On” position. Turn the valve back clockwise, without pressing down the button, until it stops in the “Pilot” position. Locate the thermal pile under the grate in the back. It will resemble a funnel and a rod. Light a long match. Light the thermal pile while pushing in on the pilot button. Keep the button pressed for 45 seconds after lighting. Release the button. Press it back in and turn the valve counter-clockwise all the way until it stops in the full “On” position.
