It can be difficult to notice by eye how level a concrete floor is; however, if you try to install tile on the floor without leveling, you will see the problem areas immediately. Use a straight-edge such as a long, flat board to check your floor level. Alternatively, you can use a string if you have a helper to hold the other end. Push the board over the floor while looking for low or high spots. Mark any that you find. Take care of any substantial high spots with a hammer and chisel.
