While more comic artists are starting to use digitized computer fonts for character dialogue, sound effects, and titles, many others still letter their pages the tried and true way – by hand. And then there are those geeks that create their own digitized fonts using graphics programs like Adobe Illustrator or Fontigrapher. as for me, I use both digitized and handmade lettering for my comics. (I’m working on my Illustrator skills.) Visit the Blambot and Comicraft web sites. These companies offer top quality commercial fonts made for cartoonists. Both of these sites also offer excellent tips for both comic book computer lettering and hand lettering. Also note that some of the fonts offered by Blambot are free. When going through their selections of digital fonts in their stores, pick one font that best suits your art style. I suggest that you try one of Blambot’s freebie fonts to see if any digital fonts are right for your comics. I prefer digital fonts for my character dialogue with the
