Microsoft Excel is one of the most widely used programs in the business world, and learning how to use it can really boost your job prospects. Many companies expect even their entry-level employees to be proficient with Microsoft Excel, so if you have never used the program before, it is worthwhile to learn how. Fortunately, a number of online tools and resources are designed to make learning Excel easier even for those with no prior experience building spreadsheets. Log on to the Internet and go to the Microsoft training center for Excel (see “Resources”). This site contains a number of links to classes, online tutorials and other resources to make learning Excel faster and easier. Open Microsoft Excel on your computer as you complete the training courses. Going back and forth between the examples in the training courses and your own computer is the most effective way to learn.
