If you have ever coached a youth baseball team or even been the parent of a player, you quickly realize that your children are not playing on major league diamonds that have full-time grounds crews to help maintain them. It’s usually well-meaning parents or friends that take on these jobs on a volunteer basis. Sometimes you may have to put new sod down on the field. Prepare the field before you put down new sod. The key to making sure the new sod will take on the field is preparing the ground properly. You will want to scrape the old level of dirt off that may have been mixed with an item like infield dry from the previous year. Infield dry may look like dirt, but it is not.
