Choosing flooring for your home can beautify and increase the value of your home. One flooring option that most all DIY’ers can do is the “Peel and Stick” floor tiles. The are very inexpensive compared to other options and these days you have so many options in color and quality. Considering a tile floor, follow these tried and true principles to help you complete your project. Prepare the Floor: Remove all base moldings. You need a clean and smooth surface to apply these tiles. You may be able to lay these tiles over an old vinyl floor as long as it is free of greases and smooth. What ever you don’t clean up will show thru on the tiles. If you are laying tile over underlayment you will need to test for moisture. First cut a piece of plastic (trash bag will work) and tape it down on all sides. Wait at least 24 hours and then see if moisture is under the plastic.
