How Do You Lay Out Tile On A Shower Wall?
There are several ways to place tile on a shower wall, whether you are working around a built-in bathtub or working with a three-walled shower unit with no tub. In either case, you will need to know how to lay out tile on a plain, blank wall and how to work around the plumbing fixtures. Check all three walls with a 2-foot framing square to see if they are square to the other walls and also if they are square with the bathtub or shower pan that holds the drain. Next use the 4-foot level to see if each wall is plumb. Apply the adhesive with a serrated trowel to the middle wall. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions when applying the tile adhesive. Pay special attention to recommended drying times. Apply the tiles in full rows starting at the bottom corner that is closest to the plumbing fixtures. (Save the “wet wall” for last, as that will be laid out in a slightly different manner.) Place your first line of tiles along the bottom of the wall and complete this row in a horizontal manner
