How Do You Lay Laminate Flooring Planks?
Laying flooring might seem like the job for a professional. After all, you are going to be walking on it every day, so if it isn’t done right, you have the potential for a disaster underfoot. For some types of flooring, this may be true, but there are some flooring types that almost anyone can install, like laminate flooring planks. They come ready to lay and have everything you need built right in. Prepare the area under the floor. Before installing laminate flooring planks, check your concrete slab for flatness. Lay a 6-foot straight edge on the surface. Make sure it touches the floor completely. Move the straight edge over a foot and check again. Check the entire floor. If there is a dip deeper than 1/8 inch, fill it with self-leveling compound to even it up before laying the flooring planks. You can buy self-leveling compound at any home improvement store. An uneven floor will cause your planks to crack. Let the compound dry completely before installing anything over it. Tape over
