Granite tile is installed differently from most other kinds of tile. It has a thinner grout line that makes it important to keep the tile faces even with each other. Granite tile comes with completely square-cut edges to accommodate this method. Make sure to get tiles that are already sealed and polished. Clean the countertop thoroughly. Cut cement board to cover each span to be tiled, including the front edges. Cut straight lines in cement board by scoring it with a razor knife and then breaking it; for curved or cornering cuts, use a jigsaw. Use carpenter’s glue to set the cement board in place, then screw it down with 1-inch drywall screws set about every square foot. Fill any seams between the boards with thinset mortar. Sand smooth by hand after it dries. Lay out your surface tiles from the center front of the countertop, without yet mort
