Prop open any doors that are in your way, move any obstructions and take measures to keep children and pets from tripping you up. Fill a large cooking pot about three-fourths full of water. Heat the pot on the stove over high heat. When the water comes to a boil, pick up the pot with potholders and carefully walk to the poison ivy patch. Stand an arm’s length away from the poison ivy patch and hold the pot of water out in front of you, slowly tipping it away from your body.
