How Do You Kill Mold On Clothes?
Mold is a dangerous fungus that grows in moist, dark areas. If you find mold on your clothes, you have to act quickly to save them. Remove the mold by washing the clothes thoroughly. You can prevent future mold problems by eliminating moisture in your home. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says “the key to mold control is moisture control.” Try setting up dehumidifiers or opening up windows on dry days to allow fresh air in. For extreme cases of mold contamination, call a professional mold-removing company. Put on rubber gloves and a dust mask if you have a mold allergy or lung condition. Take the clothes outside to prevent the mold from spreading to other areas of your home while you clean it. Use a stiff brush to knock off as much mold as possible. If you cannot bring the clothes outside, use a wet/dry vacuum to remove the mold. Fill a 5-gallon bucket with a solution of warm water and laundry soap.
