How Do You Kill Italian Cypress Trees?
Italian cypress trees grow in a narrow columns making them ideal for limited space. They grow to about 5 feet wide and up to 40 feet high, though they can be trimmed to any desired height. Like other cypress trees, the Italian cypress grows best in Climate Zones 6 to 10. Remove the bark around the tree using a hatchet. This is called girdling and is one of the most effective methods for killing trees. You must remove the bark completely around the circumference of the tree otherwise it will not be able to transport vital nutrients from the leaves to the roots and will die within a few weeks. Spray herbicides on the tree’s leaves. Spray on a hot day when there is no chance of rain and soak the leaves with a full strength herbicide or weed killer. You can also make fresh cuts or drill holes into the tree trunk and spray the herbicide into the wound. Lay a few inches of course salt around the tree. Salt will not only kill the tree but also grass and any other plants around the area. Anoth
