Using vinegar is one cost-effective way to help control and prevent fleas. Bathing: Bathe your animals using Dawn dish washing soap and vinegar. The Dawn can be any scent. Fill the tub with warm water and pour one-half to one cup of Dawn and approximately the same amount of all-purpose vinegar. Soak the animal in the soap and water mixture for at least five minutes. Use the Dawn to lather and clean your animal starting at the ears and working your way to the tail. Do not get this solution into their eyes.
