You can revive an old stainless steel sink quickly and easily, however, and learn to care for it so it stays looking new for many years. Clear your sink out. Fill the sink full of very hot water and add one quarter cup of bleach to each side. Wet six or eight paper towels in the hot bleach water and wring them out lightly. Fold the wet towels in half and lay them on the edge of the sink so that they go to the end of the stainless steel without laying on the countertop. Leave the water in the sink and the towels in place for an hour. Pick up the towels and put them aside. Empty the sink of water. Rinse your sink well with plain water and see how well this method cleaned it. If there are still stains or any kind of debris on the sink, just repeat the process.
