How Do You Keep Cut Apples Fresh?

0

Having cut apples ready to eat or already prepared for a recipe is a nice convenience. But unfortunately, if the cut apples are left out or not treated properly, the apple slices will brown and most likely look unappealing. Most children who enjoy cut apple slices for a snack will turn their noses up when they see brown apples, so keeping the slices fresh is key. Select fresh apples. Most apples are at their freshest in the fall when they are in their peak season. Slice the apples and wrap tightly in plastic wrap. Make sure there is no air surrounding the apples. Store the sliced apples wrapped in plastic in the fridge or packed with ice to keep fresh. Toss the apple slices with 1/4 tsp. of fresh lemon juice if you want to be sure the apple slices won’t brown. Use just a little lemon juice to avoid flavoring the apple slices. Wrap the apples tossed in lemon juice in plastic wrap or place in a zip-top bag and store in the fridge.
