How Do You Keep Buttons From Breaking On Clothing?

Everyone loves the decorative buttons that come on sweaters and blouses. But most of the time they end up breaking during washing and are hard to replace. Read on for a very simple solution to this problem. Wrap each button individually with small strips of aluminum foil before washing the garment. Lay foil on top of the button and press the foil downward under the button. Make sure the foil is wrapped tight and will not fall off. Pretreat the garment with a spray if needed for stains. Wash as usual. Air dry your garment. Being placed in the dryer is bad news for decorative buttons; that’s when most buttons break because of high heat and tumbling action. Remove the foil from the buttons when the garment is dry. Buttons should be intact.
