Aquatic turtles are interesting and educational pets for the home or the classroom. Watching turtles swim and bask offers hours of entertainment and beauty to any room. Cleaning an aquatic turtle tank doesn’t require any special or expensive tools, just time and the willingness to get dirty hands. Balancing healthy water levels is the key to keeping an aquatic turtle aquarium clear in between cleanings. Place the aquarium in non-direct sunlight. Direct sunlight shining on the tank constantly creates algae. Control algae levels inside the aquarium. Test water twice a week with a PH kit. Purchase aquatic snails from the pet store to clean up any excess algae in the tank crevices. Add bird cuddle to the aquarium. Scrape shavings from purchased bird cuddle into the water.
