How Do You Keep A Jack Russell Terrier Happy?
• Training is essential for a Jack Russell. ‘Sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’ and ‘heel’ are just the basics. They can learn a lot more, and are happier for it. • Love your dog. This is the basic element to any kind of dog not just a Jack Russell. These dogs are extremely loyal to their owners. Let them sleep at your feet. In fact, JRs love to sleep under the covers, very close to their owners. Just be sure that if they get agressive on the bed, you promptly set them on the ground. Your JR needs to know that the bed is your territory; not an agressive place and you are top dog. • Exercise your Jack at least twice a day. They are very smart and will keep you hopping unless they can find an outlet for all their pent-up energy. Playing active games will also help – especially when they don’t want to go out in the rain! • Play fetch. Terriers love this game. Their favorite part of it, though, is the part where you chase them for the toy. Do not make this a habit, or they will learn not to come to you
