Left your lights on? Car won’t start? No lights, radio, etc.? No sound when you turn the ignition? If you have jumper cables in your car, or a nearby driver has a set of jumper cables, read on. Easy, easy, easy. You’ll be on your way in no time. Take your keys out of the ignition switch. Open the hood of your car if that is where your car’s battery is located (some cars have batteries in the trunk). Have the driver of the other car either pull up right next to your car (on the battery side) or pull right in front of your car so the cars are facing each other and about two feet apart. Have the other driver turn their car OFF and open their hood. Take the jumper cables out. You’ll notice one cable is black and one cable is red. If the cables themselves aren’t black and red, the clamps will be black and red. Remember: this is very important. Black is NEGATIVE (-) and Red is POSITIVE (+).
