How Do You Join In The White House Easter Egg Roll?
The Easter Egg Roll on the South Lawn of the White House has been a tradition since 1878. Every Easter Monday, thousands of children join in the festivities, which include music, entertainment and food. Many of the Easter Egg Roll activities take place on the Ellipse, an area near the White House where the National Christmas tree stands, and do not require tickets. To join in the actual rolling of the eggs, participants must be 7 years old or under and have tickets. Contact the National Park Service (NPS) (see Resources below) to determine the date on which they will be distributing tickets to the Easter Egg Roll. Most of the tickets usually are distributed the day before Easter. The NPS office is located in the Ellipse Visitor Pavilion on the corner of 15th and E streets NW. The White House’s strict rules state that each person is allowed five tickets as long as there is at least one child who is 7 years old or younger in the group. No
