Square dancing is one of America’s favorite dancing past times. Local clubs and organizations are available in nearly every state. Most clubs offer a wide variety of square dancing opportunities. Advanced dancing groups take part in many competitions, conventions and exhibitions throughout the year. Put together a team through your square dancing club. All dancers should be at relatively the same skill level. Discuss competition with your square dance team. Everyone needs to be committed to the process. Search available competitions through the United Square Dancers of America website or other national square dancing organizations. Decide how far your group is willing to travel to competitions, and to what level they will continue. Determine beforehand if you will compete locally or nationally.
