The Boys Scouts of America is an organization for boys age 11 and older. The purpose of the organization is to teach responsibility, leadership and citizenship, as well as to have fun. Many of the activities are planned around nature and the outdoors. Joining the Boy Scouts is an exciting adventure for newcomers and a rite of passage for boys who were cub scouts when they were in elementary school. Go to the Boy Scouts of America’s National Council website. Click the “Join Scouting” button, located on the top right of the homepage. Click the “Contact Us” button, located on the left side of the next page. Enter your zip code inside the yellow box at the top of the page. Click “Find Local Council” to find your local Boy Scouts Council. This will provide you with the Council closest to your location, but not necessarily directly where you live.
