Big Brothers of America has been forging friendships for at least 100 years. The organization pairs boys up with men so they can establish a meaningful one-on-one relationship. The men become mentors to the children–who often don’t have fathers to look up to. They spend time together every week, doing activities that enrich both their lives. Step 1 Contact your local Big Brothers agency. You can find it by looking in the phone book, searching online through a search engine or by calling (888) 412-BIGS. Step 2 Express your interest in becoming a Big Brother. Most chapters have a shortage of volunteers and can always use more. Step 3 Ask about the criteria for being a Big Brother. You’re required to spend four hours a month with your little brother. It’s not about spending money on your outings, but spending time together.
