How Do You Jackhammer A Concrete Floor?
Known for its durability and versatility, concrete is one of the most common flooring materials. However, a concrete floor is a solid mass, and if one day it needs to be removed it cannot be pulled up like carpeting or wood floorboards. It has to be broken up. A jackhammer (sometimes in conjunction with a sledgehammer) can effectively break up a concrete floor. But be sure to wear proper protective wear and follow proper jackhammer procedures. Jackhammers can be rented from most major hardware stores. Electric jackhammers are typically used in small, home construction projects. Put on all protective wear before plugging in and picking up the jackhammer. This includes work pants or jeans, stiff boots (preferably steel toed), work gloves, safety goggles with an elastic strap, and earplugs.
