Visioneer is a California computer hardware designer and manufacturer specializing in imaging hardware. The company is well known for its use of the proprietary PaperPort document scanning technology. The PaperPort 3100 scanner is a mid-level model with the ability to make professional-quality scans. Its ability to scan at a 600 dots-per-inch (DPI) resolution was advanced for its time. Insert the PaperPort 3100 installation CD into your PC’s CD slot. Wait for the CD to automatically start Visioneer’s installation process. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the 3100 scanner’s required drivers. A PaperPort icon now appears on your desktop. Eject upon completion and restart your computer. Connect the PaperPort 3100 computer scanner to your PC. Plug one end of its USB cable into the USB port on the back of the scanner.
