How Do You Install Uneven Hardwood Floor Planks?
• First, estimate the number of hardwood rows you’ll need to complete the installation process. If your first and last rows are different widths, re-calculate so that these rows are the same size. • For uneven walls, scribe fit (mark the hardwood as a guide for cutting or assembling) the first and last hardwood rows to match the wall line so the floors are straight. • Stagger each of hardwood joints 2-3 times the length of the plank; this will help ensure an even looking floor. • o To make sure that your joints are staggered evenly for each new row, refer to the manufacturer’s recommendations (usually between 8″ – 10″). To end any uneven rows, you may be able to use leftovers from any planks that have already been cut. Use a block and pry bar to wedge the last boards tightly into position when you come across the final row.
