The underground dog fence is one way that a dog owner can keep his pet within the boundaries of the property. The fence wire is installed underground and works with a transmitter that the dog wears as a collar. As the dog gets close to the border, the collar beeps; if the dog doesn’t stop, the collar starts giving a little shock as a warning. Although you must teach the dog where the border is before you unleash him in the yard, it does work well with dogs starting at the puppy stage. Mark your line around the yard. Use a carpenter’s chalk string so that you have a straight line. If you must cut into cement such as a driveway or sidewalk, chalk this area as well. Use a lawn edger to make a cut in the sod.
