Put on all protective gear. Put down drop clothes in the room where you will be working. Find your ceiling joists with a stud finder. You want to install your lights along the length of one or two ceiling joists rather than across many of them. Cut your recessed light openings in the ceiling with a drywall knife. Turn off the power to the room your working in. Remove an electrical outlet cover and outlet with a screwdriver. Unhook the wiring, remembering where each line goes. Do this with the screwdriver if needed. Remove the electrical box by prying it out with a small crowbar. Cut out the drywall about 48 inches above where you just removed the outlet. Use a new remod
