Installing the turbine of a Hayward Aquabug requires no tools, but it does require attention to detail. The bearings must seat properly and the turbine itself must spin in the right direction to provide the power that runs the cleaner during its cleaning cycle. Here’s how to install the turbine. Set the lower middle housing upside down on the work bench with the rear of the housing closest to you. Note that the turbine has stamps with “R” for right and “L” for left. With the rear of the housing facing you, this means your right and your left. Observe that each bearing has a small notch on the inside race. This notch lines up with a ridge on the turbine shaft. Push the bearing onto the shaft with the bearing shield out and the bearing notch lined up with the shaft ridge. This locks the bearing into place on the shaft.
