After the movie Smokey and the Bandit, Pontiac’s Trans Am soared to sales heights never before seen by the GM brand. The movie also popularized the T-top option for the pony car. The t-tops are removable glass roof panels that offer the vehicle’s occupants a similar experience to driving a convertible, but provide better rigidity for the car and less weight than a convertible, thus allowing the car to achieve faster speeds using less fuel.
