How Do You Install T-Tops On A 1979 Trans Am?
After the movie Smokey and the Bandit, Pontiac’s Trans Am soared to sales heights never before seen by the GM brand. The movie also popularized the T-top option for the pony car. The t-tops are removable glass roof panels that offer the vehicle’s occupants a similar experience to driving a convertible, but provide better rigidity for the car and less weight than a convertible, thus allowing the car to achieve faster speeds using less fuel. Installing T-tops is easy once you get the hang of it, but improper installation can quickly lead to a shattered T-top sitting beside the road. Lift the left-hand T-top by supporting the glass portion with your left hand and the frame edge in your right. Make sure the lock lever on the bottom of the frame edge is open.
