How Do You Install Speaker Wire Behind Walls?
Installing speaker wires behind walls creates a more professional-looking installation for home theater. Plus, you won’t become tangled or trip over wires that have been routed behind a wall. The trick to hiding wires inside the wall is to use a fish tape–a strip of metal that becomes rigid when uncoiled. The fish tape can be guided behind the wall between two points where the wire will emerge on one end for connection a speaker and on the other for connection to a receiver. Shut off the electricity at the circuit breaker to the room where the wire will be installed behind the wall. Mark the two spots on the wall with a pencil where the speaker wire will enter and exit. It is easier to route wire horizontally or vertically and difficult to run it diagonally behind the wall. Drill a hole at each mark on the wall large enough to insert the looped end of the fish tape.
