Third-party developers can add functionality to Apple’s QuickTime video player through plug-ins called QuickTime components. These allow QuickTime users to view a wider variety of video files, use special features and encode videos in additional formats. Apple hosts a webpage that links to the download locations for third-party QuickTime Components. Users must download the desired components separately from each developer’s website and install them individually. Go to the QuickTime Components webpage (see References). Click on the component you want to download; this will link you to the appropriate website. Click on the download link and press the “Save” button in the onscreen prompt. Double-click on the .dmg file for the component to mount it on your Desktop. Click on the your hard drive under “Devices” in the Finder window. Double-click on the Library folder. Open the QuickTime folder. If there is not a QuickTime folder, go to the “File” menu and select “New Folder”. Name the folder
