The Compaq Armada e500 Notebook is a laptop with its memory compartment under the keyboard rather than in the bottom of the machine. Do not fret, however, since Compaq has made it relatively easy to get to the memory compartment so you can install more, a task that is recommended if you find your computer is running slowly and experiencing crashes. Putting more memory in the machine should take about 10 minutes. Save all of your work and shut down all programs that are running on the computer. Turn off the computer and unplug it at its power source. Touch an unpainted piece of metal to remove the static electricity from your body and clothes. Static electricity can damage the hardware in your notebook. Unfasten and remove the security screw in the bottom of the laptop.
