How Do You Install Marine Battery Terminals?
Batteries, whether mounted in a road vehicle or in a boat, require some type of connection to conduct electrical power. In most cases, these terminals are composed of lead and reside on the topside of the battery as a round post. These posts are clearly identified as positive (+) and negative (-). A separate terminal connector is used to make a power connection. These terminal connectors are also made of lead. There are two separate connections for the terminal connector: one connection is to the round battery post; the other is where the large battery wire is attached. Use the battery wire brush and thoroughly clean the battery posts. The posts should be a bright metal color to indicate that no corrosion resides on the lead conductor. Use the insert battery wire brush and thoroughly clean the inside of the new marine-grade battery terminal connectors. Both of the mating surfaces must be a bright metal color. The battery brush comes in two parts: one part fits over the round posts of t
