How Do You Install Lighted Crown Molding?
Crown molding can be installed to add an attractive look to the ceiling of any room of your home. You can add lighting to the crown molding to provide indirect lighting or to create ambiance in the room. Lighting is added to crown molding by creating a channel in the top of the molding. This will be used to insert the lights after attaching the crown molding to the wall. Create a nailing strip that will be used to attach the crown molding to the wall. Set the angle of your table saw to the angle of your crown molding. This is usually about 45 to 52 degrees. Cut a corner off a piece of 2 by 6 lumber. Set the saw back to vertical and cut off a section to use as the nailing strip. Make a mock-up of your crown molding with a section of the molding and the nailing strip. Place the nailing strip on the wall and place a strip of molding over the top. This will give you an idea of how the lighting will be placed in the molding.
