Doing this project yourself can save you a lot of money and give you a sense of accomplishment. Turn off the breaker at the breaker box for the room where you are installing the light fixtures. Use the electrical tester to test the wires that are hooked up to the old light fixtures to make sure they are dead. Do this on all light fixtures you are installing. Unscrew the first light fixture using the Philips screwdriver. Use a ladder so you can reach the light fixtures easily. Strip the wires coming from the ceiling with the wire strippers.
