How Do You Install Java Runtime Environment 5.0?
Java is an object-oriented programming language created by Sun Microsystems. Developers can create applications in Java and export them as class files, which can then be run on any operating system with the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) software installed. Thanks to the basic nature of its setup and the step-by-step instructions of the installer program, installing the JRE on your computer is a quick process. Open a Web browser window and navigate to the JRE 5.0 download page (see Resources). Select your operating system from the “Platform” drop-down menu, check the box confirming your acceptance of the program’s license agreement and click “Continue.” Click the link labeled “Offline Installation” and save the file to your computer when prompted. Close any open programs. Double-click the file you saved to your computer in the previous step to open the JRE installer program. Click “Install” to accept the program license terms and continue the installation process. Select any products y
