Jaguar is the name for the third incarnation of Apple’s OS X software that was released in 2002. Following in the tradition of feline-themed nomenclature (OS X and X.1 were named Cheetah and Puma, respectively), Jaguar was a far superior version of OS X than its predecessors and is considered by many Mac experts as the first “real” version of OS X. While Apple no longer supports it, Jaguar is still a valid operating system for a number of its computer lines, including its PowerBook G4 laptop. Insert the Jaguar CD into the CD/DVD drive on your PowerBook. Once the CD icon mounts on the desktop, double-click on it to open it. Then double-click on “Install Mac OS X” to begin installation.
