How Do You Install Headers On An LS1?
The Corvette LS1 engine has proven to be the most powerful push-rod production V8 in history. And though it produces terrific power in stock form, like any factory stock engine, there are power gains to be found. One of the easiest and most effective is the installation of a set of long-tube headers. Tubular headers are far more free-flowing than stock exhaust manifolds, which usually have small exhaust passages that prevent exhaust gasses from exiting the motor as efficiently and quickly as possible. Step 1 Jack up the vehicle and place it securely on jack stands. You can also use an automotive lift to access the underside of the car. Step 2 Remove the three nuts that fasten the H-pipe to the manifolds on either side of the motor. Step 3 Remove the bolts that hold the steering shaft to the steering box and move the shaft out of the way to allow access to the manifold bolts that fasten the manifold to the engine. Step 4 Move to the engine bay and remove the coil covers, the alternator
