How Do You Install Hardiboard Lap Siding?
Fiber cement board siding, such as Hardiboard, is a relatively new building material that emulates the look and feel of natural wood siding; but that doesn’t have some of the problems inherent to wood. Fiber cement siding will not expand and contract as much as wood. As a result you can anticipate your paint lasting longer. Fiber cement board is durable and not prone to rot or warping. Another great benefit of fiber cement board is its resistance to fire. Installing fiber cement board requires a few specialized tools and basic carpentry skills. Prime all sides of your fiber cement siding. Use a paint brush, roller or sprayer to apply a quality exterior grade primer to coat the back, sides, end cuts and face of your fiber cement siding. Check the exterior of the house for obtrusions, such as nails. Remove them or pound them flush to the surface of the house with a hammer.
