How Do You Install Glow Plugs For A 1996 Ford Diesel 7.3L Powerstroke?
Diesel fuel works differently than gasoline in that when the temperatures start to drop, the diesel fuel starts to gel. This makes starting and running the engine very difficult, and even impossible in extreme cold situations. To fix the problem, diesel engines such as the 7.3l engine found in a 1996 Ford truck use glow plugs to heat up the fuel before the vehicle starts. If these glow plugs fail, then you’ll have problems starting the vehicle when it gets cold. The fix is to replace the glow plugs with new ones. Pop the hood. Disconnect the rocker arm cover on the top of the engine using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket, and set it to the side. Unplug the electrical connections on the glow plugs using the pliers. Unscrew the glow plugs from the head using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket, and discard the damaged plugs. Install the replacement plugs into the cylinder head using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Reconnect the electrical connections to the glow plugs using your hands. Insta
