Released by Adobe Systems, Flash is one of the world’s most widely used multimedia development platforms. It lets designers and programmers create a wide range of interactive content, from audio and video clips to animations, slideshows and fully-featured web applications. If you want to view Flash content, you must have the free Adobe Flash Player software installed on your computer. If you use the Windows operating system, you can set up Flash Player using the standalone ActiveX installer program available on the Adobe website. Navigate to the Archived Flash Player page on the Adobe website (see Resources). Click the top-most link below the “Archived Versions” heading (e.g., “Flash Player 10”) to download the most recent version of the software. Save the resulting ZIP archive to your desktop when prompted by your browser. Double-click the icon of the ZIP archive you just downloaded to view its contents.
