How Do You Install Bushwacker Flares On An XJ?
Bushwacker fender flares open the wheel opening of your Jeep Cherokee (XJ) to allow your tires to extend into your XJ’s wheel well without causing damage to the body of your vehicle. To gain this extra tire travel, you need to remove portions of your vehicle’s sheet metal body to enlarge the wheel opening, which is covered by the installed Bushwacker fender flares. A good rule of thumb during the cutting and installation process is to “Measure twice and cut once.” Remove two to three inches of red backing tape from the rubber edge trim supplied with your Bushwacker fender flares and press the edge trim onto the edge of the flare that meets the body of your XJ. Continue peeling the red backing tape from the edge trim as you push the edge trim onto the fender flare. Cut the edge trim even with the end of the fender flare with the utility knife.
