How Do You Install Bathrooom Ceiling Lights?
Installing a new ceiling light isn’t difficult, but you do have to be diligent about getting all the connections properly sealed and the circuit properly grounded to ensure it’s safe. This is especially true for fixtures in a bathroom, where moisture could combine with any errant electricity and become dangerous. Choose a sturdy, self-contained fixture (as opposed to one with dangling bulbs) and don’t install it directly over a shower or tub. Cut power to the bathroom at the fuse box. Remove the existing fixture, unscrewing it from the electrical box and disconnecting the wires behind it. Use your wire cutters to clip off the ends of the wires coming out of the electrical box. Strip 1/3-inch of insulation off the ends so you have a clean starting point for rewiring. Hold the new fixture up to the electrical box and wire it in the same configuration as the previous one was wired, connecting like-colored wires from the box and the fixture, screwing them together with the wire nuts.
