SATA is a connection type used by your motherboard to transmit data to and from hard drives. As of 2010 SATA is becoming the standard connection type as it boasts speeds faster than IDE connectors. If you have an ASUS motherboard, you will likely have to install drivers in order for your SATA ports to function properly. Installing SATA drivers on an ASUS motherboard can be accomplished in about 5 minutes. Insert the installation disk that comes with your ASUS motherboard into your disk drive then turn on your computer. Click on “My Computer” then click on the corresponding optical drive that hold your installation disk. Click on the “Setup.exe” file located on your installation disk. Follow the step-by-step instructions to load your SATA drivers and any other support applications your ASUS motherboard requires. Restart your computer to complete the operation.
